  • Circuit board level repairs were performed on multiple sections of the logic board. MacBook Pro not only switched ‘ON’ but also performed as good as NEW!

Performance upgrade of a 2009 Mac Pro with shut down issue for high-end photo editing

Challenges faced by customer

  • Mac Pro used by a Professional Photographer with an outdated MacOS and hardware configuration was unable to run the latest versions of photo editing applications like Photoshop with file sizes of more than 10GB each
  • Random shut down issue during long usage
  • Heating and performance issues due to age of more than 13 years!

What Circularity did in this case?

  • Since the Mac Pro was never opened and serviced, the system was deep cleaned.
  • The backplane was removed and repaired at BIOS chip level to support new CPU, RAM, NVMe SSD and GPU.
  • The stock W-Series CPU replaced by faster X-Series Xeons.
  • RAM increased from 16GB to 48GB DDR3
  • Graphics card upgraded from stock Nvidia GT510 (512MB) to AMD Radeon RX580 (8GB)
  • NVMe SSD installed as primary boot drive with macOS Monterey, with 4x 4TB HDD additionally

  • The design is done keeping optimized thermals and positive airflow throughout the cabinet to keep all the components cool, enabling reliability for extended durations of full load during renders.

Servicing of an Architect’s Hi-Performance Rendering Computer with broken cabinet glass & reliability issues

Challenges faced by customer

  • Customer’s rendering HPC’s glass was shattered and the entire cabinet internals were exposed to severe amount of dust leading to reliability issues
  • Customer wanted to optimize the performance of the computer for faster renders
  • Severe thermal throttling issues on CPU (i9-12900K) and GPU (RTX 3090) while rendering for extended durations

  • Circularity selected a new cabinet with better airflow and thermals
  • Circularity re-assembled the entire build correcting the 360mm AIO configuration to the most optimum
  • The cable management was redone in a neat and accessible manner and the fan hub was repositioned for better cable management

Servicing of a Gaming High Performance Computer (HPC) not powering 'ON' after a failed general service and SSD upgrade at a local computer shop

Challenges faced by customer

  1. Customer’s gaming i9 HPC not powering ‘ON’ after getting thermal pasting, deep cleaning and purchase of inferior brand SSD from a local computer shop in Bangalore.
  2. The technicians at the earlier shop misdiagnosed the issue as an SMPS fault where actual fault was in the motherboard which was loosely installed and was being held in place by only 3 screws!

What Circularity did in this case?

  1. At the outset, it was attempted to repair the motherboard but the damage was beyond repair.
  2. Replaced the motherboard with a high-quality branded motherboard.
  3. Circularity re-assembled the entire build correcting the 360mm AIO configuration to the most optimum. The CPU cooler was blocking one of the RAM slots earlier.
  4. After further cleaning on the cable side, the cable management was redone in a neat and accessible manner.
  5. CPU performance improved by 21% and RAM performance by 16% without changing any parts (RAM, CPU, GPU).
  6. New ‘Crucial’ 1TB SSD was also installed as an add-on SSD for the customer.
